Casual Friday — the sun’s about to flip!

Well, OK — the sun won’t flip, but its magnetic field is about to.  No worries, though, it happens every 11 years — like a big thermonuclear clock ticking.

This happens every time the sun reaches solar maximum, with solar flares and sun spots at their peak.  And even then, it’s a long, drawn-out, poorly-understood process — and it’s already started.
