Found in Temple XVII at the ruins of Palenque, this beautifully preserved work is now on display in the site museum:

Tablet of the Warriors

While some of the carvings and monuments in Maya ruins had a religious purpose, many (if not most) were pure political propaganda. This tablet depicts the capture of a noble named B’olon Yooj by Palenque’s ajaw (king) Kan B’alam II in 695 AD.
