If you think your camera’s autofocus system is pretty impressive, you’ll want to watch this video to see what’s really possible (or at least, soon will be). PhD student Zdenek Kalal has developed a system he calls “Predator” that learns from its mistakes. Imagine being able to teach your camera to recognize a certain object, then having it automatically focus on that subject whenever it’s in view (direct link)!
