Casual Friday — the Antikythera Mechanism recreated, with Legos

If you’ve been reading this blog for long, you might recall that I’ve had an abiding fascination with the Antikythera Mechanism for years. Well, some folks at Nature magazine seem to have been bit by the same bug — and they built a functional replica of the mechanism with Lego Technic parts (non-Flash link here):

A few years back, Nature also produced two YouTube videos (part 1, part 2) describing the mechanism and how its functions were decoded. Well worth 20 minutes of your time…
