Solar Cycle 24 — the wait's over

If you were curious after the last podcast episode, it’s finally official — solar cycle 24 has begun.


A magnetically-reversed, high-latitude sunspot emerged on the 4th. So now the Sun begins its long, slow climb back up to solar maximum. Activity should peak around 2011 or so, so you’ve still got a few years to save your pennies for a solar telescope!
